Promoted by Karunakaran, in the year 1992, Karan Group is a consortium of architects, engineers, and designers from different fields.

Karunakaran B.Arch., A.I.I.A., A.I.I.ID., graduated in Architecture from MIT Manipal. In the initial phase of his career, he worked under a well-renowned French Architect Pierre Elouard. Hyderabad based projects including The Country Club and a 3-star hotel are noteworthy. Karunakaran has handled projects in New Delhi under a leading Urban Design Consultant, S. K. Das.  Engaged by the Government of India, he was the architect for the Sitarc Pump Institute project funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Designing an international multi-cultural school – The Kodaikanal International School, saw him in later years, emerge successfully as a leading architect creating many a reputed educational campus across South India. He avoids an overarching style and prefers to explore unique solutions for each project. In summary Karunakaran nurtures not a vision but a mission.
